Professor Sanjoy Paul is Head of the Clinical Trials and Biostatistics Unit (CTBU), based at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Prior to establishing his clinical trials research group in Australia, he created the Statistics & Modelling Group of the University of Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) in the UK.
Prof. Paul is an internationally recognised clinical trialist, biostatistician and a research administrator with long-standing experience of design and conduct of clinical trials and pharmaco-epidemiological studies. He currently leads several studies in the fields of auto-immune and metabolic diseases, including NHMRC and pharmaceutical industry funded large comparative longitudinal studies to understand the possible reasons behind the observed “obesity paradox” in patients with type 2 diabetes.
