Bec Johnson is the CEO of the Telethon Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre in Perth, an Australia-first service offering peer and psychosocial support, advocacy, information and clinical care to over 500 families impacted by type 1 diabetes in WA. Diagnosed with diabetes in 2001, Bec believes that there are no limits on a life with type 1, and has swum solo across the 20-kilometre Rottnest Channel, sailed across the Atlantic, and become a SCUBA dive guide to prove it. An Adjunct Research Fellow with the Curtin University Faculty of Health Sciences, Bec holds a Master of Public Health and qualifications in Law and Arts. She is passionate about connecting, educating and inspiring the type 1 tribe, and helping people with type 1 to thrive.
