Assoc. Prof. Jane Overland holds a Clinical Chair with The School of Nursing, The University of Sydney. She has worked in chronic disease management for over 20 years and was Australia's first Nurse Practitioner specialising in Type 1 diabetes. Jane is currently employed at the Diabetes Centre at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney in this role. She is responsible for providing clinical management, psychological support and education to a wide range of people with diabetes and their families. She regularly lectures to a wide range of health care professionals, both nationally and internationally, in these areas.
She has a Masters in Public Health and completed a PhD in 2001. In addition to her clinical work, she is an active researcher and has been awarded over $500,000 in research grants. She has published a book on living with type 1 diabetes, as well as written three book chapters, and authored over 20 peer reviewed research papers. She is an active member of the Australian Diabetes Educators Association.
